HOW
TO SUCCEED LIKE YOU MEAN IT !!!
(START
WITH A PLAN!)

Dear
students,
I know that deep inside your heart, you have
dreams and desires. You dream of
becoming somebody someday; maybe an engineer, a doctor, a leader, a teacher or
a good and caring parent and maybe you also dream of having something; maybe
good scores in your exams or good grades at the GCE or in future you dream of
having a big house, a nice car, nice clothes and shoes etc.
It is wonderful to have
dreams and desires….
- Napoleon Hill said: “Desire is the starting point of all achievement, not a hope, not a
wish, but a keen pulsating desire which transcends everything”.
We are all children of God
and any dream or desire that leads us to true success comes from God…..
In fact, the word DESIRE
is the Latin word for “FROM THE FATHER”.
It is God who puts desires for success in our
hearts.
|
You need to
understand that success is NOT ACCIDENTAL…. it is INTENTIONAL…!
If you want to really
succeed in achieving your heart’s desires like you mean it, then you
MUST HAVE A PLAN…!
If you are going to be somebody or have something or
even get somewhere, you need to
KNOW WHO you want to be,
WHAT you intend to have and
WHERE you are going to and above
all
HOW you are going to achieve
all of these things….!
That is where a plan comes in…
- J.M. Power said:
“If you want to make your dreams come true, the first thing you
have to do is wake up”.
Waking
up in the sense that you need to make A PLAN, in order to achieve your dreams.
A
plan begins with a dream that metamorphoses into A Goal; an OBJECTIVE which if
properly planned and executed, becomes a GREAT ACHIEVEMENT!
A
dream without a plan just ends up being a wish….!
Plans
are like maps that will direct you towards your objectives.
If you don’t know where you are going,
any road will lead you there and that destination is called NO WHERE!
Without
goals and objectives, it is easy to get distracted and lose focus.
Many
students fail, drop out of school because of unwanted pregnancies, or get
dismissed because of indiscipline simply because they don’t have plans for
their success.
God
had a plan for the universe, Noah had a plan for the Ark, Solomon had a plan
for the Temple in Jerusalem, every year, the Ministry of Secondary Education,
school administrators, teachers, parents and other education stake holders make
plans in order to achieve a successful academic year…..
WHAT
ABOUT YOU…..?
What
is your plan?
Or
better still WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR
YOUR SUCCESS THIS ACADEMIC YEAR…..?
It
is not enough to say that you have it in your head….NO….
WRITE
IT DOWN….!
Something
happens when you get serious enough to write down your goals. Write them down and put them in front of you…..
maybe on your wall or on your mirror at
home or on the first page of your book….
You
could say:
THIS IS WHAT I INTEND TO ACHIEVE TODAY… OR AT THE
END OF THIS TERM OR ACADEMIC YEAR OR IN FIVE YEARS and so on….
And
this is HOW I intend to go about it…………………..
It
keeps you focused….
In
the Bible;
-
Proverbs 16:9 says:
“In his heart, a man plans his course, but the Lord will direct his steps”
-
In Jeremiah 29:11 God says:
“I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not
disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for”
As
you can see, God has plans to make you succeed….
But that will only be possible if you PLAN
YOUR COURSE…… If
you don’t plan your course, God cannot direct your steps….
When
you have clear cut plans, you will be able to evaluate how you spend your time and who
your friends are.
You
won’t waste time doing things or hanging around people that will not help you achieve
your objectives.
Dear students; don’t go another hour or
day without a plan…It is very interesting…. Write down your objectives and how
you intend to achieve them and then start following your plan to success.
Succeed today, this week, this academic year and for
life………
SUCCEED
LIKE YOU MEAN IT….!
A
friend of mine helped me to come up with this declaration which I will like to
share with you….it reads like this
“I
am a teacher of excellence; above all, I am a child of God. My gifts and talents will come out to the
full. I will work for my success in self
discipline, integrity and confidence. I
therefore declare that I will succeed from this academic year onward IN JESUS’
NAME…… AMEN…..”
Replace
the word teacher with the word student, (man or woman) and you’ll
have a declaration of your own……..
My
Form Two students join me before every class as they declare together…
“I
am a student of excellence; above all, I am a child of God. My gifts and talents will come out to the
full. I will work for my success in self
discipline, integrity and confidence. I
therefore declare that I will succeed from this academic year onward,
IN
JESUS’ NAME…… AMEN…..”
