INTENTIONAL SUCCESS VOL. 10

YOU ARE A GENIUS!
(You Have It in you!)
Weekly Motivation for 23rd November – 27th November 2015 by Ndimofor Aretas
Good Morning my dear ENTHUSIASTIC and TERRIFIC students!
            I will begin by thanking you for always giving me your undivided attention.  It greatly motivates me to make sure that I give you just my best and nothing less.
            After my last write – up, I have noticed that the rate of complaining has greatly reduced.  In fact, one student came up to me happily and said he will like to show me his list of reasons why he was grateful.  It was a very long list.  He went on to say how he was unaware of how talented he was until he had taken out time to write down all the other things he could do!
HOW LONG IS YOUR OWN LIST?
            I know that in my last write – up, I encouraged you to write down all the things you are grateful for.  Today, I am encouraging you to write down all your other talents including those other things you can do, and even those that no other person yet knows you can do.
In my volume 12 write – up, I will be telling you why.  For now, in this write – up, I will be giving you a sample list of intelligences which can help you easily make up your list of talents.
Before I continue, I will like to let you know that;
YOU ARE A GENIUS!
Yes, YOU ARE!  YOU HAVE IT IN YOU!
            I know that whenever you hear of the word GENIUS, you only think of SOMEONE WHO HAS EXCEPTIONAL INTELLECTUAL ABILITY AND ORIGINALITY.  The most prominent name that comes to mind is ALBERT EINSTEIN!
Well, you are not wrong, but if you still think that you are not A GENIUS, then
YOU ARE WRONG!
            I insist on this because another definition says that;
GENIUS IS NATURAL TALENT!
Aaaahhhhhhhh! So you see why I say YOU ARE A GENIUS!  Right?  Well, to make a distinction, let’s call the first one Genius (beginning with a capital G) like Einstein and the second one genius (with a small letter “g”) like YOU and I.
From birth, we are all geniuses (with a small letter “g”), meaning that we have more than 1 natural gift.
            Dr. Howard Garner of Harvard University, founder of the Concept of Multiple Intelligences discovered that we possess at least 10 different intelligences in any one of which we could be a Genius (with a capital G)!
            He wrote that ONLY 2 intelligences are MEASURED and REPORTED throughout school and university!  Those two are the VERBAL and MATHEMATICAL intelligences.
Other intelligences include:
Ø  Visio-spatial intelligence (for art, design,),
Ø  Entrepreneurial intelligence (for business startups),
Ø  Physical or kinesthetic intelligence (for sports),
Ø  Musical intelligence (for playing musical instruments, writing music),
Ø  Interpersonal intelligence (for getting along well with others),
Ø  Intrapersonal intelligence (for understanding yourself at a deep level),
Ø  Intuitive intelligence (for ability to sense the right thing to do or say),
Ø  Artistic intelligence (for creating works of art) or
Ø  Abstract intelligence (for physics, science).
He concluded that each person is capable of achieving excellence in some way in some area.
Right now, we have the ability to function at a genius or exceptional level in several different intelligences!
We have the ability to move form geniuses (with a small letter “g”) to Geniuses (with a capital G)!  Like Einstein….
IF AND ONLY IF WE ARE WILLING TO STAY POSITIVE, FOCUSED AND DISCIPLINED!
            You need to begin by seeing yourself as A BUNDLE OF RESOURCES.
It is your job to FIND OUT HOW MANY OTHER INTELLIGENCES YOU POSSESS.  When you realise how much you have inside, you will begin to see yourself differently and become more and more confident!  You will also discover more and more in future.
            In my next write up, I will reveal to you how you can improve upon the talents you have and also discover new ones.
            In the meantime, be gentle with yourself, use more positive words when describing yourself, and use positive declarations in your favour.
In the King James Bible, Psalms 139: 14 says; I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvellous are thy works and that my soul knoweth right well.
Praise God for making you so talented and use those talents to glorify His name and become all he made you to be….
Declare from today that;
I will become a Genius (with capital G)
IN JESUS’ NAME,
AMEN.

INTENTIONAL SUCCESS VOL.9

STOP COMPLAINING!
(Count your Blessings!)
Weekly Motivation for 16th November – 20th November 2015 by Ndimofor Aretas
Good Morning dear students;
HOW ARE YOU?
            After my last write-up on this topic, I have observed a lot of positive changes in the way some respond to this question.... I see a lot of smiling too, especially because the answers often come in two Sets;
First there is I’m Fine (which fades out).... and then another more positive response which fades in...
I observed this in some students trying to force themselves to say FANTASTIC.....  They started with
I’m F I N...... which did not end and then they coughed out FINTASTIC in a mumble....!
Another student who was fund of responding with I’M JUST THERE... began with I’M JUST and then ended with T E R R I F I C !   Hahahahahaha !
It is a good start.  It will not come in one day, so I am encouraging you to keep pushing it out and before you know it, you will start saying it out loud and it will become part of you...!
            There are some questions that many students have also been asking me... such as; “Sir, what if I don’t feel fine, for example I have a head ache or I am tired or I have a problem in a particular subject or I have just failed a test....etc...... Should I move around saying that I am FANTASTIC?”
Another big question is
SHOULD I STOP COMPLAINING?
            Before I answer the above questions, let me explain a few things I have come to understand;
IT IS NATURAL TO COMPLAIN, BUT DON’T OVER DO IT OR EXAGGERATE IT!
When you discuss your problems in an attempt to search for solutions, or when you share your life experiences (including disappointments) with friends or relatives in the context of bringing them up to date on the latest developments in your life. That’s constructive and commendable!
Part of being human is SHARING OUR EXPERIENCES and SUPPORTING EACH OTHER.
Some of us however often exaggerate and blow some little things way out of proportion and perspective!
-          Do you know of students who INVENT and EXAGGERATE illnesses especially slight headaches which they call FRONTAL HEADACHES... especially to escape from tests, exams or some lessons?
-          Do you know of students who quarrel, fight or remain standing because another student is SITTING on THEIR BENCH....?
-          Do you know of students who complain about the COLOUR OF THEIR EXERCISE BOOK COVERS or about the way their blue pens are flowing or about their school bags, school shoes etc...
-          Do you know of students who get upset because of the weather?
I am sure you now understand the kind of COMPLAINTS I am referring to.
It simply makes no sense to get upset about things over which you have no control and which have no significant impact on your life!  It stresses you up, and send others away from you!
DO NOT SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF!!!
Life presents too many difficult challenges for us to get bogged down with silly things like that. And when you complain about insignificant things, you’re also saying something about yourself.  I’m wondering how you’ll react when you really have a problem worth worrying about!
Now, to answer the questions, I will simply suggest that when you have REAL PROBLEMS like if you don’t feel well, you should actually go to a doctor or someone who can solve your problem!
I believe that in schools, there are guardian counsellors who can assist you to some extent with academic issues and subject teachers can assist you if you have difficulties in their subjects and ARE WILLING to find solutions....
AND FOR QUESTION TWO I SAY
YES, DON’T COMPLAIN IF YOU ARE NOT SEEKING FOR A SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM...!
When you just sit there complaining, it works against you in three ways;
1.      First, NO ONE wants to hear negative news about your illness and your problems.
2.      Secondly, complaining reinforces your own pain and discomfort. So why keep replaying painful, negative memories?
3.      Thirdly, complaining, by itself, ACCOMPLISHES NOTHING and DIVERTS YOU FROM THE CONSTRUCTIVE ACTIONS you could be taking to improve your situation!
It is said that when you lay your complaints to 10 people;
-          5 out of the 10 ARE NOT LISTENING to you because they are thinking about their own problems.
-          3 out of the remaining 5 ARE LISTENING KEENLY, in order to GOSSIP to others about it!
-          The remaining 2 ARE GLAD that you have problems!
SO WHAT THEN SHOULD WE DO?
My advice at this point is that we should make a WRITTEN LIST of all the things we are grateful for no matter how small.  For example; I am grateful that I woke up this morning, I can breathe normally, walk upright, think straight, see, hear, speak clearly...etc.  Do this whenever thoughts of complaining come to your mind.
— William Penn once wrote that
The secret of happiness is to count your blessings while others are adding up their troubles.
The next thing I suggest is that you should BE A SOURCE OF GOOD NEWS TO OTHERS...
People often run away from those who complain a lot!
The people who don’t complain very much (and those who speak positively) are a joy to be around.  Decide to join that group — so that others won’t have to cross the road when they see you coming!
From now on, let’s do ourselves and others a favour and make our conversations uplifting.
In my next write-up, I will share with you the fact that WE ARE GENIUSES if we are willing to stay positive, focused and disciplined. Isaiah 54:17 tells me that;
NO WEAPON FASHIONED AGAINST ME SHALL PROSPER……..
I will therefore DO MY BEST and God will DO THE REST.  And my best is that I will stay Great, Fantastic, Enthusiastic, Motivated, Happy, Successful, Energetic, Smart, Intelligent and Confident
IN JESUS’ NAME ... AMEN.
