Hi,
Welcome to my blog.
There are a few things I
will like you to know about the blogger (Me) and the blog just to wet your
appetite before you start digesting what I have in stock for you.
About the Blogger; he is
a 29 year old Cameroonian Geology teacher (Graduate from Ecole
Normal Superieur – ENS Bambili,42nd
batch (ENSAB at that time) 2005 - 2008) with a 6 years teaching experience (4 years for Geology… that’s the age of the high school science
department of my school)
currently teaching at G.H.S (Government
High School) Njinikom in Boyo Division, North West region of Cameroon.
The idea of this blog was
inspired (among many other facts) by;
1. The difficulties I faced as a geology
student and as a teacher of the subject.
As a student in high school, I suffered a problem of lack of teachers to
cover the subject syllabus and also the very expensive cost of geology
textbooks (if available). As a teacher I
felt a need to compare my notes with those of more experienced teachers of the
subject and regularly update my notes too, but that was not very easy (for some
of the reasons that students also face when giving out or begging for a book)…
reasons like fear of mishandling the notes or fear of copying and repeating
errors..etc..
2. The need to teach students how to make use of the internet for educational
purposes also caused me to create this blog where students can easily “find
what they seek……” while learning how to use ICTs for learning. The
world is a global village for ICT literates so I don’t want them to be left
out….
3. The fact that other teachers will be
able to correct me at their convenience.
4. The fact that it will help younger
teachers in the field to compare and update their notes.
5. The fact that Cameroonian geology
students will have access to most if possible, all the notes……ANYTIME
ANYWHERE…..!
6. I am trying to reach out in a special way to the public, especially those Students who are deprived from education due to any reason whatsoever (like those in Kolofata, Fotokol and any other area suffering from terrorism)
This blog is meant for YOU (learners in
general) and Geologists in particular especially for Students and Teachers of Geology (in Cameroon). Some of the posts also concern Personal Development Material, which I feel will be of a lot of help to any education stakeholder.
The material I post on this blog is
taken from a wide range of web sources and textbooks (which I have enumerated
as much as I can in the bibliography) including information from senior
colleagues in the department (some of whom I have also acknowledged) and my own
personal experiences as a teacher.
Though I and a team of others have carefully verified the
material, errors are inevitable. I
therefore welcome any form of corrections or information that can help me
improve upon the material.
I place no restrictions on the use of
the material so long as it is not for profit or selfish interests.
My greatest wish is that all education stake holders especially students and
teachers benefit as much as they can from this blog.
I wish you all the best as you
explore this blog.
Remember that
learning is a lifelong continuous process and not a stage in life.
A futurist by name Alvin
Toffler puts it this way ……..
“The illiterate of the 21st century will not be
those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn and
relearn”
