PROBLEMS,
ADVERSITIES AND CHALLENGES
(They
are for your good! They are
opportunities in Disguise!)

Good
Morning my Geniuses;
I hope that after the last write –
up, you were able to identify and eliminate the internal constraints between
you and your goals.
I strongly believe that some of you
have by-passed the Mental obstacles and are now ready to tackle the other 20%.
I am happy you have done so.
The truth is that when most of us
are faced with challenges and problems, there is a natural tendency for us to
complain and ask questions like; why me? Or why now? Or what am I going to do
now? And sometimes we go as far as making statements such as; My plans are
ruined! Or I am finished.
NO
YOUR ARE NOT!
Remember
in my last write – up I said;
“THE GREATER OR BIGGER
THE CHALLENGE, THE GREATER THE ACHIEVEMENT?”
In other words, those
challenges are simply OPPORTUNITIES IN DISGUISE!
Napoleon
Hill puts it this way;
Every
adversity carries with it the seed
of
an equivalent or greater benefit.
—
If you are still doubting, then let me quote a few people
you may be familiar with;
Let me start from the
Bible:
Abram became Abraham
because of his Faith in trying times.
Remember how many times he was challenged especially when he was asked
to sacrifice his ONLY SON Isaac.
David is popularly
known as “The Giant Slayer”. He defeated
Goliath....
If that is too far for you, then let me take someone
around you....
Do you remember that
the Great Nelson Mandela spent 27 years in Prison before becoming President?
These are just a few out of the many people who saw their
challenges as opportunities and it was only after they overcame those
challenges that they became reknowned.
Back at school, I believe you face challenges especially
with certain subjects. I am calling on
you to see them as an opportunity to go one step higher.
One good thing I have learned is that adversities,
problems and challenges cause us to ADJUST.
Sometimes we just need to adjust a little to bring about BIG
CHANGES. For example;
Watch less TV, Go to
bed a little earlier, Wake up a little earlier, Talk a little less, Take a
little break, Show a little kindness, Smile a little, solve a little math each
day, make summaries, eat a little less, show a little patience, pay a little
attention..... etc.
Just little
adjustments that can bring about big changes in the nearest future.
In my next write up, I
will reveal to you why some students find it hard to remove roadblock number 1
out of their way...
In the meantime, I will end up by giving you seven
reasons WHY ADVERSITY IS GOOD
for us.... (funny right?)
1.
Adversity gives us perspective; (it gives us a better
understanding between real life challenges and “the small stuff”)
2.
Adversity teaches us to be grateful; (in the African
context, it is put like this “a dog only knows the importance of its tail when
it is cut off” for example; It is when you are really starving that you start
appreciating the food that you used to reject)
3.
Adversity brings out our hidden potential;
(in the face of adversity we usually discover hidden potential and talents that
we never knew or believed that we had)
4.
Adversity encourages us to make changes and take action; (Problems
are often life’s way of letting you know that you’re off course and need to
take corrective action)
5.
Adversity teaches us valuable lessons; (After a
challenge, you learn at least a lesson)
6.
Adversity opens a new door; (When one door closes,
God opens another)
7.
Adversity builds confidence and self-esteem; (When
you muster all of your courage and determination to overcome an obstacle, you
feel competent and gain confidence. You have a greater feeling of self-worth and
you carry these positive feelings into subsequent activities)
So
when next you face a major challenge, prepare yourself to rip all of the above
benefits, remember that the adversity is there for your good. Also remember that in the face of any
adversity, you are not alone, there is someone who is always there to support
you; his name is Jesus Christ. In the
face of any challenge, remember this verse from Phillipians 4:13 which says;
“I
CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHS ME”.
IN
JESUS’ NAME,
AMEN.
